Seniors falling and injuring themselves are one of the primary reasons for hospital admissions for older adults and one of the reasons people are unable to continue to live independently in their own homes. Exercise programs focused on strength and balance for older adults have been shown to be effective ways to reduce falls. We currently support RSVP volunteers at Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) programs in Okanogan County (Brewster, Loomis, Oroville, Tonasket, Twisp, Omak and Riverside) Adams County (Ritzville), Lincoln County (Wilbur) as well as at a number of sites in Chelan and Douglas Counties. We’re interested in supporting other SAIL programs in communities in Okanogan, Grant, Adams, and Lincoln Counties. If you’re interested in partnering with us on a SAIL program to help prevent senior falls in your community, or would like to attend free training to become a SAIL instructor, please contact us.
